The best way to ensure wild hedgehogs are well-fed is to create organic wild spaces, leafy corners and log piles where they can forage for natural foods, like grubs and insects.

To supplement their diet in the wild, you can offer hedgehogs a good quality meaty hedgehog food, meaty cat or dog food or dry biscuits for cats.

TIP: Check meat is first ingredient listed.

To reduce confrontations between hungry hedgehogs, try setting up multiple feeding stations in different locations around the garden, or scattering small amounts of food in grass or undergrowth so hedgehogs can forage as they would naturally.

Only ever offer fresh water to drink.

IMPORTANT: Keep it clean! This will help reduce the risk of spreading diseases and parasites amongst the hedgehogs visiting your garden. Keep hedgehog dishes & cleaning equipment separate from your own – outside and well away from food preparation areas. Clean surfaces & dishes after every use using an animal-safe disinfectant, rinse thoroughly and air-dry before re-use.

Remember – hedgehogs are wild animals so wear gloves and thoroughly your wash hands and forearms with soapy water afterwards.
